Ime Udoka's Interim Successor Takes Permanent Role

The Boston Celtics have named Joseph Mazzulla as their permanent head coach, the team announced Thursday. The 34-year-old Mazzulla had served as interim head coach since the suspension of Ime Udoka in September.

Mazzulla, who was born on June 30, 1988, has been with the Celtics since 2019, serving as an assistant coach under Udoka. He has no previous head coaching experience at the NBA level.

Mazzulla becomes the 18th head coach in Celtics history. He is the seventh coach the team has hired in the last 10 years.
